Magnesium has roughly \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan\u003etwo thirds the density of aluminium\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e and around \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan\u003eone quarter the density of steel\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e, giving the Junior a distinctly lightweight, aerospace inspired construction.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe Junior features an \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan\u003eintegrated eyelet for direct carabiner attachment\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e, keeping the design compact and eliminating the need for a separate cord attachment.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe magnesium is finished using \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan\u003eMicro Arc Oxidation (MAO)\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e, a process that creates a hard, ceramic-like oxide layer on the surface of the metal. The resulting finish has a distinctive matte, slightly chalky or “dusty” appearance. This is a characteristic of the MAO surface rather than dirt or residue.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eOnly two prototypes of this design were ever made. While the prototype has been tested, there is no long-term wear data for this particular combination of magnesium alloy and MAO finish.
