Edgemaster Aero - 20mm

The EdgeMaster Aero is the world’s first commercially available 3D printed metal hangboard (that we know of).

Made from a single piece of aluminium using advanced additive manufacturing, it’s built for one thing. Simple, consistent finger training anywhere.

At just 45g, it’s ultra light and compact enough to live on your chalk bucket or in your gym bag.

The 20mm edge with a 7.5mm radius leans more towards comfort than pure raw performance (for that you want the Edgemaster Pro).

The material and process

The Aero is made from AlSi10Mg, a high strength aluminium alloy developed for additive manufacturing.

Each unit is built using laser powder bed fusion.

A layer of extremely fine aluminium powder is spread across a build plate, and a high powered laser selectively melts it into solid metal. The platform then drops by a tiny increment and the process repeats, layer by layer, inside a controlled inert gas environment.

Each layer is roughly the thickness of a human hair.

Hundreds of these layers are fused together to create a solid, single piece metal part.

This process allows for complex geometries, internal structures, and material efficiency that simply aren’t possible with traditional machining or casting. It’s the kind of manufacturing used to produce high performance components in industries like aerospace and Formula 1.

It’s been around for years, but only recently become accessible at this scale.

Design

• Single piece construction
• 3D printed aluminium enabling geometry not possible with traditional manufacturing
• Ultra portable. Take it everywhere, use it anytime
• Sample units have been statically tested to 100kg. This is not a certified working load limit and should not be treated as a safety rating. The Aero is a training tool only and must not be used as PPE, fall protection, an anchor, or any situation where failure could result in a fall or injury.
• Inspect before each use and discontinue use if you notice cracks, deformation, sharp burrs, or other damage. Use only with suitable training setups and controlled loading.

Raw by design

This isn’t a polished, showroom perfect product and it’s not trying to be.

Each Aero is:

• Uncoated aluminium that will develop a natural patina over time
• Prone to marks and scratches from normal use
• Slightly variable in finish due to the menufacturing process

You may notice:

• Minor surface inconsistencies
• Areas that are slightly rougher or smoother
• Marks from post processing and support removal

If you’re looking for something perfectly uniform and pristine, this probably isn’t for you. It will come out of the box with marks and develop a form of patina over time.
